TRAP OR PIGEON GUN WITH CASE. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 25645. (1951). This attractive gun has nearly all available factory options except for Monte Carlo stock. It has 32" barrels fitted with raised ventilated rib holding two white beads. There are 1" triangles of scroll engraving at breech ends in usual No. 5 style. Engine turned barrel flats are stamped with S#, gauge and chamber info along with Winchester proofs. Barrels are marked for mod and full chokes. Blued standard boxlock type action features automatic safety, and single selective trigger. All correct marks are on watertable. Action is engraved in classic No. 5 style, with about 60% coverage well cut scroll surrounding game scenes within ovals. Pheasant on left, ruffed grouse on right and setter retrieving bird on trigger plate. A standing setter is on trigger guard bow. Nicely crotch figured American walnut, Winchester capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 3/8" over red Winchester solid pad. Side panels are checkered and multi-point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching, braced, long beavertail ejector forend has usual J spring release with secondary knurled button latch. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: L .0727. R .0727. RESTRICTION L .032. (full). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: gun is housed in what is most likely its original Abercrombie & Fitch VC leather case, also marked "Made in England". Case has stitched leather corners and is lined in burgundy velvet. Case contains cleaning equipment, A&F marked snap caps, square oil bottle, bench and wiping cloths. CONDITION: fine, original as found. Barrels retaining over 90% original blue with some marks and light splotches. Action shows some silvering on fences and on bottom from normal hand wear, bottom of forend iron is considerably silvered. Trigger retains about 60% blue, silvered on bow and considerably on tang. Stocks retain about 90% original varnish with a large number of marks, scratches and minor dings, checkering shows light wear. Bores are bright and shiny without any noted problems, action is tight, mechanically fine. Case leather is darkening, shows a large number of marks and rubs. Newer straps are good as is replaced handle. Interior cloth is fine with rubs and compressions, accessories are good. (22-5839/MGM). CURIO. $9,000-14,000.
