PLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER GAME GUN. Cal. 12 ga. 2 3/4". S# 43428. Lebeau Courally is known as the maker of some of the world's finest guns. Their inherent quality is evident in all grades and types. This very finely made gun has 27 1/2" well-struck dovetailed bbls. with slightly raised matted game rib. Tops of bbls. are engraved "Aug. Lebeau Courally" "Armes De Grand Luxe a Liege". Bbl. flats are stamped with 1960 Belgian Nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers and with maker's name. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with choke information, steel type, "Jardot" (brl. maker?), Lebeau Courally logo and serial number. Coin finished, round bodied boxlock action with rounded ornamental sideplates has maker's name and address on watertable and breech face is stamped twice with Lebeau Courally crowned logos. Action features nonautomatic safety ("S" inlaid in gold), hidden third fastener, and single nonselective trigger. Action and locks are engraved with about 50% coverage of a very attractiveley laid out scroll with floral highlights interspersed with unengraved spaces within geometric borders. Fences and top of action have near full coverage of scroll. Trigger guard has serial number on tang. Replacement (most likely by factory) slightly swan necked straight grip buttstock of lightly marbled and figured European walnut measures 14 3/8" over checkered wood butt. point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release is original and finished to match butt. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .726", L .726". Restriction: R .018", L .033". Min. Wall Thickness: R .031", L .032". STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1 3/8". LOP: 14 3/8". CAST: approx. 1/2" off. WEIGHT: 6 lb. 6 oz. CONDITION: very fine as refurbished, most likely by factory. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a best reblack with only a hint of silvering and a few light scratches. Action repolished to coin finish. Engraving with a bit of softness. New buttstock retains essentially all of its hand rubbed oil finish with a few very minor handling marks. Checkering remains fresh. Forend refinished, checkering recut. Forend matches quite well as to color. Forend checkering is about 20 lines per inch while grip checkering is around 18. Bores are bright and shiny with some light frosting evident at breech ends with no noted repairs or dents. Action is tight. Ejectors are strong and in time. Mechanical trigger works well.
