-HAND FLINTLOCK RIFLE BY DON GOUCHER, ca. 1980. Cal. 45. NSN. Bbl. Rifled 42 1/2" oct. w/ sculpted transition to multifaceted front section. Top flat has maker's name "Don Goucher". Rocky Mountain style German silver blade front sight w/ U notch rear sight. Heat colored left hand lock & hammer. Plain trigger. Full length pin fastened cheekpiece stock of fancy curly Maple. Left side of stock has a pierced segmented rectangular daisy finial patch box w/ hand engraving featuring a bow w/ quiver of arrows on lid. Other brass fittings include crescent buttplate, engraved toe plate, finger curl trigger guard, pierced & engraved side plate, faceted thimble & 2 oct. pipes. Has engraved eagle in German silver on cheekpiece & circular wrist plate marked "N". Well-executed relief carved scrollwork around cheekpiece w/ relief contours around comb, lock & thimble area and incised carving along toeline. Ramrod channel has a mullered border. Brass tipped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: excellent. Browned bbl finish showing light edge wear. Lock, frizzen, hammer & breech area show some light surface corrosion from use. Brass parts are acquiring a pleasing mild patina. Good original stock finish showing scattered handling marks. Bore retains deep sharp rifling. PROVENANCE: Estate of Rick Ingwersen. (01-20150/DS).
