RIFLE. Cal. 7.62x54R. S# 247473. S# matches on receiver, bbl., and bolt. Bbl. 27". Import-marked on right side of bbl. This last version of the Mosin Nagant rifle, produced in Finland, was well liked in the service and given the nickname "UKKO-PEKKA", meaning Old Man or Uncle Pekka. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000 meters. Blade front sight with protective ears. Receiver is serial-numbered on the left flat. Bbl. is marked on top over chamber with the boxed "SA" Finnish property mark. The Sako "gear wheel". Dated "1944" and marked "D" for the ammunition type. Upper band is hinged and retains the bayonet lug. Correct cleaning rod is present. Lower band and buttstock are fitted for both side and bottom slings. Hardwood stock set. Pistol grip buttstock has the finger joint construction with the squared fingers. CONDITION: stock set is likely an arsenal replacement with light wear, staining, and handling marks. The metal parts are well worn, retaining only a small percentage of their original finish, having turned an overall gray with moderate handling marks. Bore has a frosted appearance with well-worn lands. PROVANANCE: from the lifelong collection of Terrence McCarty. (24-352/RW). CURIO. $300-400.
