FIONA CAPSTICK'S: THE DIANA FILES: The Huntress/Traveller Through History
The Dallas Safari Club Convention of January 2004 was the venue for an event that has left a distinguished mark on the recent history of hunting literature. Fiona Capstick's weighty tome, the illustrated international overview of the history of the huntress - THE DIANA FILES: The Huntress/Traveller Through History - celebrated its launch in Dallas that year and just two months later, was awarded the prestigious CIC Literary Prize in Abu Dhabi by His Highness, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. This was a first for a woman writer and it was the first hunting narrative by a woman to be published in the entire history of the renowned Rowland Ward company, founded in London in 1880. The book was released in three editions - the Standard edition, the Collector's edition of only 100 copies and the now-rare Remarqué edition of just 26 copies, one for each letter of the alphabet. The book going on auction this evening is the Remarqué copy for the letter D, which Fiona has been holding onto for the last two decades. It is literally one-of-a-kind. This unique book was and remains the first such international history of the huntress. It is unlikely in the extreme that any other book in any language will be published to supersede this tour de force of research and high adventure. DSC FOUNDATION THANKS FIONA CAPSTICK FOR THIS 100% DONATION.
