FLINTLOCK PISTOL & FRENCH RESTORATION TYPE SWORD.
1) SILVER MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Cal. approx. 60. NSN. Bbl. 13 1/2”. Bbl. has cast in foliate decoration extending 4 1/4" up from the breech. Lock has a partially legible marking that appears to read, “H Mayo Marseille”. Iron trigger guard w/ cast-in decoration similar to the bbl. Buttcap is highly decorated, hallmarked silver, as is the sideplate. Ramrod tubes are silver & there are numerous silver wire & tiny inlays. CONDITION: the entire bbl. & lock mechanism appear to have been heavily cleaned & painted black. The trigger guard has also been painted black & attached to the base of the gun w/ nails in lieu of the missing screws. Buttcap & sideplate show light to moderate wear. Ramrod tubes show wear w/ minor losses. No ramrod present. Wire inlays are about 80% complete. The stock appears to have some repairs or reshaping near the bbl. channel. (01-17435/BF). ANTIQUE. 2) FRENCH ROYAL HEAVY CAVALRY SWORD. Overall length: 45 3/4”. Blade length: 37”. A superb 20th century copy of a restoration period French heavy cavalry sword of the Royal Cavalry. This type of sword was first in service after Napoleon’s initial exile to Elba. Plain dbl. fullered blade. Spine of blade shows Klingenthal marks w/ the date “1813”. Heavy brass multi-branched hilt w/ central blackened cross. Hilt is heavily embellished throughout, mostly w/ acanthus leaves. Wire wrapped leather grip. Brass mounted leather scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a medium gray cleaned finish. Brass has areas of darkened patina. Grip shows light wear. Scabbard shows light wear w/ tiny minor dents to the mounts. (02-13567/BF). $500-800.
