FOXCO OPEN BOLT SEMIAUTOMATIC FOX CARBINE.
Cal. 45 ACP. S# 051229. Bbl. 17". Mfg. 1975-1976. An open bolt, self loading rifle w/ a few unique features. Designed by Gerard J. Fox in 1974, the FOX carbine somewhat resembled a Thompson Submachine Gun though is an entirely different mechanism. One of the most unusual features is that this carbine utilizes 3 distinctly different safety mechanisms; the first is a traditional safety lever, located on the left side of the receiver, (which is absent on this example) the second is a grip safety, like a Colt Model 1911 uses, & the 3rd is a Sesamee, 3-digit keyless lock, integral to the left side of the receiver. Painted / parkerized finish. Hardwood forend, shoulder stock & pistol grip panels. The Grip panels are secured by attached ball & post plastic pads, glued to each grip for easy disassembly. The shoulder stock is terminated w/ an aluminum butt plate. It is fed w/ unmodified US M3 Grease Gun magazines. Round barrel w/ 18 ribs. Blade front sight w/ fixed protected peep sight in the rear. The stock detaches by depressing a button at the rear of the receiver & pulling it to the rear. Oddly, the rear of the receiver is factory engraved "THINK" & highlighted red. MAGS: 1 steel 30 rd. w/ Cobray stamp. CONDITION: Finish is complete & consistent w/ some scattered time-earned, gentle patina & typical light rack wear. Wood furniture has only a few light impressions & matches in finish nicely. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand, even though it is missing the left-side safety lever. PROVENANCE: Lifelong Collection of Terrance McCarty. (24-438/JZ). MODERN. $900-1,400.
