Cal. 69. NSN. Bbl. 7" steel, unmarked. Flintlock is incorporated into lg. brass casting which includes trigger guard tang. Brass trigger guard attached w/ screws. Round bodied reinforced cock is of iron as is bridled friction frizzen. Feather spring has bulbous finial. Area behind pan is stamped "A," & "Maubeuge" is engraved under cock. Stock has bulbous bag grip w/ brass cap & steel backstrap. Frame & stock are cut for belt hook (missing). There is an indecipherable mark on right side of grip. "?? AW". CONDITION: good, iron parts cleaned, heavily retoned to blue/black over considerable heavy pitting. Brass w/ numerous marks cleaned & retoned to mustard brown. Stock w/ old oil finish. Wood is considerably under metal. Mechanically good. This model pistol was the inspiration for the first American made military pistol by North and Cheney.
