Cal. 30-06. S# 00086. Bbl. 27" over flash hider. The BAR was developed by John Browning in 1917, as an air cooled, gas operated, mag. fed, shoulder fired automatic rifle as a requirement for WWI. Early manufacturers included Colt, Winchester & Marlin Rockwell. Approx. 85,000 were mfg. Prior to the armistice. This particular example is manufactured by Group Industries & is designated the Model 1918A2. It is a select fire, open bolt variant of the historical BAR. Gas operated w/ an adj. gas system. Matte parkerized finish with hardwood fore end. Has a threaded muzzle w/ cone flash hider. Fixed blade protected front sight. Ladder elevated peep rear sight graduated to 1500 yards w/ folding battle sight setting. 31" Sight radius. Green canvas sling. Left side safety selector marked “F-A-S”. Non reciprocating charging handle. Black plastic stock w/ folding steel buttplate. Front mounted folding adj. bipod. Barrel marked with flaming bomb ordnance mark and “ROT II” above, w/ “8-52” below, behind front sight. Also marked “6508769” and “P” above chamber. Front sight hood marked “C5564177 / IPKO”. MAGS: 4 steel 20 rd. CONDITION: Finish on receiver is dark and complete with some thinning in areas of mechanical intervention and a few spots at rear where the stock meets it. Barrel finish is complete with some gentle thinning above handguard. Flash hider demonstrates some staining. Wood forend is has a few period correct impressions and a small chip with no visible structural damage. Buttstock is largely unblemished and shoulder rest opens fully, remaining tight. Bore is bright w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT MG REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION.
