9mm SN: 9890 'Pre War Tangent & Slotted' Belgian semiautomatic pistol, manufactured circa 1935-1938. Identified as a Chinese contract pistol by Anthony Vanderlinden, author of the two volume reference books on FN Browning pistols. Features blued finish, checkered wood grips, 4.75" barrel, single action trigger, dovetailed blade front sight, Type II tangent rear sight adjustable to 500m, frame mounted safety, push button magazine release. Numbers match on slide, frame, barrel. Marked with "A" inside square box, crown over "PV", star over "N", star over "G", "ELB" & star in oval, "W" with underscore. Markings are crisp & even. Bore is good to very good condition, a bit gray and frosted throughout. Retains little original finish, some original dark color under slide stop and similar places, mostly mottled gray with moderate edge losses. Thin patina on grip straps, few isolated patches of pinpricking on slide. Grips are good condition, smoothed, losses to checkering points, showing dents, left panel has circular shape that is not identifiable, appears to be a purposeful marking.
