.41 Colt caliber, 4.75" barrel, S/N 167558 (ca. 1896). Blued finish with broad scroll engravings and factory steer head ivory grips. Barrel marked with caliber and two-line Colt address. In a 1985 letter, Jay Banks stated that he received this revolver from U.S. Marshall Frank Leimer, and that it was Bank's first gun in his law enforcement career. Banks carried this revolver in the early years of his career, during his time as a constable in Jack County. He goes on to describe this particular revolver as "his prized possession.". **Good condition overall. None of the original blued finish remains, a testament to the service it saw under two US Marshals. Grips are in fine condition with a pleasant light caramel color and are later replacements, the factory letter does call for carved longhorn ivory grips. Action is tight and functional. Bore is mostly bright with good rifling. A must-have for any serious collector of Texas Ranger or law enforcement artifacts.** $10,000 - $20,000
