Early and original flintlock fowling piece signed Felix Meier in Wien (Vienna, Austria) on the lock plate. A well known royal gun maker circa 1730-1750. Original very good plus condition showing nicely raised , incised carving, and molding on the guns furniture reminiscent of the fine American makers of the same era working in Pennsylvania. Fine two stage ,octagonal/round 40 1/4" barrel with the goldmark of the maker Andreas M. Sigl, and a gold mark with a horse over the chamber. Original flintlock parts and good bright metal finish showing just minor pitting, some minor wood restoration but great wood to metal fit and well defined carving. Action works well, correct style ramrod, brass fittings, sling swivels. A German immigrant would have carried such a gun to America in the 18th century and many of this type were used in the French & Indian war, and the American revolution. 55 1/2" overall.
NRA Condition-Very Good. Antique Firearm.
