This auction item represents an opportunity to do one of the coolest, best-kept-secret hunts in the Lower 48! Join Texas Hunting Resources on an adventure through the limestone hills, juniper chocked valleys, and Live Oak mottes that make up Texas Hill Country for the chance to take a monster free-range axis deer. Prized for their delicious meat, beautiful hides, and antlers unlike any other, axis deer also present one of the most challenging games of cat and mouse in the hunting world. Sizable but stealthy, axis bucks glide effortlessly through the dense brush like a ninja, making sound only to roar in search of a mate. That’s when the hunter springs into action and the chase is on.
This auction experience offers one hunter the opportunity to pursue these wily axis bucks. Most hunting is done through a mixture of glassing, spot and stalk and calling. Because this hunt is during the pre-rut, action should be hot and heavy! What’s more, Texas Hunting Resources manages the land for absolute premium trophy quality; they won’t even go after a buck less than 30”! Over the course of this three-day all-inclusive hunt you’ll see between 50 and 100 axis per day, with several being of trophy quality.
All accommodations are in clean, comfortable lodges featuring the authentic Texas experience. Meals are expertly prepared to suit the hunters and are more than ample to keep a hunter full. The Texas Hunting Resources guides are expert photographers, and they are quick and comfortable with trophy and meat prep. It’s a great experience! Schedule the hunt in open dates with the outfitter in June of 2025. Other years may be available but must be coordinated with the outfitter directly.
The only things not included in this hunt is round trip airfare to San Antonio, transportation to Sonora, Texas (although airport transfer can be arranged for $250), meat processing (can be arranged for shipment on the way back to San Antonio), taxidermy, and an over-counter Texas 5-day exotics hunting license ($40). You do not want to miss out on this adventure! If you have any questions, feel free to ask NCCSCI Board Member Abe Walsh who recently hunted with Texas Hunting Resources. Thank you to Ky McNett, owner/operator of Texas Hunting Resources for this generous and unique donation.

NCC SCI AUCTION RULES
Spirit of the Auction
We are here tonight to celebrate conservation, education, and sportsmanship. To accomplish this goal, the Chapter has arranged this live auction. The more generous your bidding this evening, the more money the Chapter and SCI will have to fund local, national, and international conservation, education, and humanitarian initiatives. Please support our efforts by BIDDING EARLY and OFTEN.
General Rules
If you are the successful bidder, you agree to pay the amount of your bid plus all applicable taxes this evening. All sales are final and are non-refundable.
There will be no post-auction sales of unsold live auction items. Items on the live auction will only be offered once during the auction. Items that do not receive any bids or that receive bids that do not meet the reserve will be withdrawn.
This is an auction with reserve. This means that the Chapter reserves the right to establish a reserve price, to accept or decline any and all bids, or to withdraw the item at any time prior to the announcement of the completion of the sale by the auctioneer. All items currently listed in the program as live auction items have a reserve. This means that a minimum acceptable price has been set, and the Chapter may or may not disclose the reserve price during the auction. The Chapter may change the reserve price at any time. In order to win a live auction item, your final bid must be higher than the reserve for that item. You need not be physically present to win.
The terms of an auction item are set forth in the description and have been described by the Chapter as reasonably as possible. The hunts being auctioned are not guaranteed, which means that no money will be returned to the winning bidder, and the winning bidder should not expect to be invited back at no cost should the winning bidder be unable to harvest an animal. If something is not included in the terms, bidders should assume that the specific term is not included and may cost additional money. The Chapter shall not be liable for typographical errors or errors in the description. Photos may be stock photos, and thus, they may not represent the class of game to be taken at the locations.
Restriction on Transfer/Resale of Live Auction Items
No live auction item may be transferred or resold without the prior written approval of the Board of Directors of the Chapter, which may consent or withhold consent for the transfer for any reason in their sole discretion. Only the person registered as a bidder and being declared the winning bid on an item by the auctioneer shall be considered the owner of that item, unless otherwise declared and specified at time of checkout and form completion. Any subsequent attempt to transfer the item shall result in forfeiture of the item back to the Chapter. Neither the Chapter nor the donor shall be responsible for refunding any payments made to purchase an item that has been forfeited. The decision as to whether an item has been transferred or attempted to be transferred shall be at the sole and absolute discretion of the Board of Directors of the Chapter.
Not an Agent of the Donor
The Chapter is not an agent or partner of any donor of a live auction item. The winning bidder releases, waives, discharges, indemnifies, holds harmless, and covenants not to sue Safari Club International, the National Capital Chapter, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, employees, and members, all of which are hereinafter referred to as “Releasees”, from any and all liability, cost, and expense to the winning bidder and his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses, or damages on account of injury, including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence, gross negligence, or intentional conduct of the Releasees or otherwise. All sales are final and are non-refundable.
Transfer of Firearms
If a person is the winning bidder on a firearm in the live auction or the winner of a firearm in any game, raffle, or drawing, the person shall contact Hendershot’s at (240) 347-4883, 65 West Main Street, Hancock, Maryland, 21750 to arrange for the transfer or shipment of the firearm. All federal, state, and local rules apply to the transfer of firearms. Firearms for which no arrangements have been made within 30 days of the date of the auction may incur storage fees. All charges for shipment of firearms and any storage fees, if applicable, shall be paid prior to shipment or transfer of the firearm.
ALL PURCHASES WILL BE CHARGED A 4% CREDIT CARD/TRANSACTION FEE.
