"Stove Pipe" Shako. Cardboard barrel covered with black cloth, 10" height. bordered at the top with a scarlet cloth, with a black waxed leather crown and neck cover at the back trimmed in red and a French tricolor cockade on the front. 2 1/4" in diameter, with a half-bell button in brass at its center, 3" stamped, grooved brass plate from button to crown. Below the roundel are fixed two crossed brass cannons surmounting a flaming bomb. Half moon visor in black leather. Red Pompom in slot. Black leather sweatband under cloth lining. Brass scaled chinstrap with Fleur De Lis bosses. Most of the nap gone, with some staining, the is a 1 1/4" V-shaped piece missing from the middle of the visor. the red band has is fade with discoloration, miss a 3" piece to the left of the Pompom. Overall sound, not to bad for it's age. From the Joe Musso Collection.
