GERMAN WWI ERFURT KAR 98 DATED 1915 AND LATER

USED IN POLAND. Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 6148i. Bbl. 23 5/8". All visible numbers match except rear sight spring & bbl. bands. Receiver ring marked on top w/ imperial crown, "ERFURT" & "1925" w/ added "1920" date. Marked on right side w/ imperial proofs & left side w/ Prussian eagle proof. Left receiver rail marked in Gothic "KAR 98". Turn down bolt handle w/ flattened checkered knob. Stock has clearance cut. Receiver bridge has been drilled & tapped w/ 2 holes on the right side for unknown sight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000m. Inverted V front sight w/ protective ears & tab for sight protector. Bayonet bar is present. Rifle was restocked in Poland & has Polish 2 piece stacking rod. Buttstock has grasping grooves. Buttstock marked on left side w/ lg. "A" by sling bar recess. Lower band has loop for side sling & bottom swivel. Buttstock made w/ bottom swivel & swivel bar on left side. Flat type buttplate. No disassembly disk. Handguard & stock have Polish style doweled reinforcement. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: brass muzzle protector w/ hinged cap. Marked on forward end "KRANC & EMPICKI". CONDITION: stock set has light wear, staining & moderate handling marks throughout. Has notable sm. shallow cracks in area of sling bar recess & around edge of buttplate notable on the left side. Sm. crack behind receiver tang. Handguard has sm. crack at forward edge of rear sight. Metal has traces of blue turning gray & patina w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Bbl. bands have notably more blue finish. Good shiny bore w/ lightly worn lands. (22-521/RW). CURIO. $600-900.
