LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 9443g. Bbl. 4". Standard configuration P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1942. Top of the bbl. extension is marked with the 2-digit year of mfg. "42," with Mauser Eagle/135 acceptance proofs marked on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Metal components have been heavily cleaned and are in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All numbers are matching, save for the grips and wood bottom mag. Front sight blade has been ground down. MAGS: 1 8-rd. CONDITION: metal components have been heavily cleaned and remain "in the white," exhibiting mild to moderate degrees of pitting and scattered spots of age-related discoloration overall. Bbl. extension exhibits a grievous crack that stems from the chamber and runs 3/8" vertically along the right side. While Section 23. of Poulin Auctions' Terms & Conditions states that it is strongly recommended that any firearm be inspected by a competent gunsmith prior to firing, the cataloger would like to state that this particular firearm should not be fired for any reason due to this crack, as catastrophic failure is likely to occur. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent moderate pitting while retaining good rifling throughout. Right grip panel exhibits heavy smoothing, with the left panel exhibiting large impressions at the center of the grip and a loss at the upper right corner, to the rear of the safety lever. (24-2274/MLW). CURIO. $300-500.
