SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 857d. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol, mfg. at the Walther arsenal during 1944. The left side of the slide is marked "P.38," followed by the S#, as well as Walther's "ac" mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "44," with Walther Eagle/359 proofs and an eagle firing proof stamped on the right. Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall. Bbl. appears to have been reblued at one time. Frame is mounted with 2-piece black grooved Polyamid 6 grips. All serialized parts are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: two wartime 8-rd. mags. and one 8-rd. postwar mag. UNATTACHED ACCESSCORIES: hard case containing two spare mags. CONDITION: frame and slide retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some light edge wear and scattered spots of light surface oxidation overall. Frame shows wear and thinning to the grip straps, with some pitting present on the front grip strap. Bbl. retains the majority of its reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some indentations on the lower half of the muzzle crown, as well as scattered spots of pitting beneath the bluing overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting a few spots of light surface-level pitting while retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some superficial marks from handling and storage but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (24-5193/MLW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
