SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH WOOD DISPLAY CASE. Cal. 9x19mm. S# 1586f. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by Walther in 1944. Left side of the slide is marked with the model designation, followed by the S#, as well as Walther's mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "ac 44", with Walther Arsenal acceptance proofs marked on the right. Right side of frame is import marked "LHD W.BORO MA" above a post-war German Eagle/N commercial nitro proof, a Cologne Proof House mark, and a "KG" (96) (indicating import back into Germany) date code, with an unidentified encircled "TRA" stamped on the right side of the forward trigger guard web, likely indicating "Transarms Handelsgesellschaft". Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved brown pressed resin grips, which appear to have had their exteriors coated in lacquer. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: two 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: nicely made wood display case. CONDITION: metal components retain bountiful amounts of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting few minute superficial handling marks overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips are very good overall. Display case is very good to excellent.
