HOLLAND. Cal. 10 Ga. 3-1/4". S# 7776 (1884). The 25" dovetailed barrels are fitted with slightly raised matted rib holding wide bar rear sight and flip up bead front (small bead broken off). Top of right barrel is engraved with Holland & Holland New Bond St. address and top of left "Winners of all the "Field" rifle trials London 1883". Barrel flats are stamped with London black powder proofs for 11 Ga. Round bodied Jones under lever action with peninsula back spring rebounding locks having round bodied serpentine hammers; also features long top strap that extends over top of comb, dolls head third fastener and double triggers. Action is engraved with line borders and maker's name is on each lockplate. Left side of action is engraved "Charge 8 Drams Case 3 1/4 Inches". S# is on trigger guard tang which extends to horn grip cap. Pistol grip buttstock of dense stump figured European walnut measures 14" over replacement solid brown pad. Stock also features shadow line right hand cheekpiece, point pattern grip checkering and a vacant silver oval on toeline which is also fitted with sling eye. Matching splinter forend has forward pivoting lever release. MEASUREMENTS: STOCK: DAH: approx. 3-1/4". DAC: approx. 1-7/8". CAST: neutral. LOP: 14". WEIGHT: 13 lb. 3 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2012 invoice & import paperwork. CONDITION: good as partially restored. Barrels retaining nearly all of a re-blue over some fairly deep pits noted on rib. Action and locks retain traces of original case hardening color. Stocks are refinished with some loss of definition; checkering re-cut. Bores are fine to very fine; shiny with sharp strong rifling throughout. Action is tight. Locks are very fine. Stocks are sound without any noted problems except wood is somewhat under metal along top tang. (01-25458/MGM). ANTIQUE. $9,000-13,000.
