These knives were developed in 1943. Between 1943 & 1944, over two & a half million of these knives were produced by at least nine different companies. The scarcest of these are the ones manufactured by H. Boker & Co. of New York, one of which is included in this lot. M3 trench knives, in spite of the number produced, are relatively scarce. These knives share many common features such as the forward swept thumb rest of the crossguard & grooved leather washer handles. The scabbards are all of green plastic construction w/ & w/o belt hooks. No.1: Boker knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 5/8" overall. Blade is marked on right side "U.S. / M 3 / H BOKER & CO. / U.S.A.". Handle has seven full grooves & 1 partial. Flat peened pommel marked on rear w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard marked "U.S. / M8A1 / B.M. CO". No.2: Aerial Cutlery knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 5/8" overall. Crossguard is marked on front "U.S. / M3 / A.C.C.". Handle has 8 grooves. Flat peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard is marked "US M8 / BM CO". Scabbard has rawhide lacing tie-down. No.3: Kinfolks knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 5/8". Blade is marked on the right side "U.S. / M3 / KINFOLKSINC.". Handle has 8 grooves. Peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard marked "U.S. / M8 / BM CO". Leather tie-down thong is present. No.4: Case knife. 6 5/8" blued blade. 11 1/2" overall. Blade is marked on right side "U.S. / M3 CASE". Handle has 8 grooves. Peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard is marked "U.S. / M8 / BM CO". No.5: CAMILLUS knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 5/8" overall. Blade is marked on right side "U.S. / M3 / CAMILLUS". Handle has 8 grooves. Pinned pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard is marked "U.S. / M8 / BM CO". No.6: CAMILLUS knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 5/8" overall. Crossguard is marked on front "U.S. / M3 / CAMILLUS". Handle has 8 grooves. Pinned pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard is marked "U.S. / M8 / BM CO". No.7: IMPERIAL knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 3/4" overall. Blade is marked on right side "US / M3 / IMPERIAL". Seven grooved handle. Peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard is marked "U.S. / M8 / BM CO". No.8: IMPERIAL knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 7 5/8" overall. Crossguard is marked "U.S. / M3 / IMPERIAL". Handle has six grooves. Peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard marked "U.S. / M8 / A1 / PWH". Green nylon tie-down lacing. No.9: IMPERIAL knife. 6 3/4" parkerized blade. 11 3/4" overall. Crossguard is marked "U.S. / M3 / IMPERIAL". Handle has 8 grooves. Peened pommel marked w/ "flaming bomb". Scabbard marked "U.S. / M8 / A1 / PWH". Drain hole in scabbard has been enlarged. CONDITION: knives average good to very good condition w/ light wear & handling marks. Finishes appear original. A well cared for group of knives. (02-23697/RW). NON-GUN. $900-1,400.
