George L. Vought's Schoyen Ballard Rifle
Famed Denver, Colorado Shooting Club member George L. Vought owned this rifle. He was a teammate of the legendary shooter Dean W. King. This rifle has a 30" blued half round No. 4 weight barrel in 38-55 caliber marked "George C. Schoyen Denver, Colo.". Barrel is fitted with Winchester style scope mounts with Southern scope. Case-hardened Union Hill No. 9 floral engraved action with "G.L. Vought Denver Colo." on right side and a giant "Bullseye" on the left side. Schoyen Schuetzen double set triggers with added nickel triple finger lever. Tang is fitted with peep sight. Peterson/Simmons style walnut checkered Schuetzen Perch-belly stock with Schuetzen cheekpiece and aluminum Helm butt plate. Custom checkered Schnabel splinter forearm with extended integral palm grip. Rifle comes with provenance, Schoyen grease pump, Pope style mold and re & decapper. J.T. Livengood Collection. CONDITION
Overall good with 90% fading to plum barrel blue. Action has sharp engraving with 80% visible fading case colors. Wood retains 90% original varnish with stock missing ebony inlay in pistol grip. Good bore and mechanics with scope needing a professional cleaning. Stock has slight hairline crack at wrist on right side and left side with right being worse.
