German Gewehr 88 bolt action rifle, 8mm caliber, Serial #5869. The rifle is in good overall condition with a 30” barrel with a blade front and a ladder style rear sights. The rifle has gone to a dark brown patinawith numerous proofs and acceptance marks and the front ring marked, “Danzig” and dated 1890. The smooth wood stock is in good condition with small mars and compressions and several faint cartouches. The stock hassling swivels, ramrod and a smooth steel butt plate. The GEW 88 was commonly referred to as the Model 1888 commission rifle and was a late 19th-century German bolt action rifle, adopted in 1888. Est.: $200-$400.(Antique).
