POLICE MARKED P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 372x. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol, mfg. by Mauser in 1939 for police use. The bbl. extension is marked "1939" over the chamber, with an Eagle/L police proof marked on the right. Toggle is marked with the Mauser banner logo. Forward face of the front sight block, as well as the left side of the bbl. extension and breechblock, exhibit a double-crowned "U" commercial proof. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Bbl. extension is fitted with a sear safety. All serialized components are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open latch, bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, as well as the rear toggle pin. Grips and bbl. are unnumbered. Mag. is mismatched and has been polished on the body and aluminum bottom. MAGS: one 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster stamped "SCHAMBACH&CO./ BERLIN/ 1939" on the rear. CONDITION: excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finish overall, exhibiting some small spots of wear, with light to mild wear and thinning present on the grip straps. Right edge of rear grip strap exhibits several spots of light pitting. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips show some light smoothing as well as a couple of nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise very good overall. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting age-related cracking overall, with a couple scattered spots of light crazing. A fine 1939-dated Mauser banner police Luger.
