SAFETY HAMMERLESS DOUBLE ACTION "BICYCLE REVOLVER WITH RARE 2" BARREL & FACTORY LETTER. Cal. 32 S&W. S# 178119. Bbl 2". Third Model .32 Safety Hammerless double action revolver manufactured by Smith & Wesson circa. 1909. The left side of the rare 2" barrel is stamped "32 S.&W. CTG", with Smith & Wesson's 1 line address stamped across the right. Right side of frame bears the S&W trademark logo. Metal components exhibit a lustrous factory blue finish, with the trigger exhibiting a case color hardened finish. Frame is mounted with 2 piece S&W trademark logo checkered black hard rubber grips. Pinned half-moon front sight with V-notch rear sight. Matching numbers are present on the butt of the frame, rear face of the cylinder, underside of the barrel latch, rear of the barrel, as well as on the interior of the right grip panel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: factory letter indicating that this example was one of many .32 Safety Hammerless revolvers shipped to E.K. Tryon Co. in Philadelphia, PA on March 9th of 1909. CONDITION: very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting some small spots of mild wear, some light scattered superficial marks from storage and handling, as well as some minor losses to the finish on the cylinder and light side of the frame from extremely light, cleaned oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting a couple small spots of pitting towards the breech and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few light marks from storage and handling, but are otherwise very good overall. A very nice example of an over a century old Smith & Wesson .32 Safety Hammerless double action revolver.
