Hamilton WWII U.S. Military Chronograph Pocket Watch, stop watch and was paired with the US Navy Model IV octant, as well as a couple of other sextants. Type D Model 23. Size 16, 19 Jewel. Movement number P27126, manufactured 1943. U.S. military markings on the back of case including Part# 37297 which Hamilton records describe was a navigational stop watch for the U.S. Army Air Corps. Serial number on case is P27367, also manufactured in 1943. Markings on case read from top to bottom "Stop Watch MIL-W-5605A SERIAL NO. P27367 H6645-241-3280 MFG. PART NO. 37297 CONT. NO. N-PS-N35-6-B178 U.S." Housed in a base metal Star Watch Case Co. case. In good working order. A mismatched serial number between the movement and case on a Hamilton Model 23 watch usually indicates that the watch has been serviced or repaired at some point.
