Henry Ledford North Carolina Percussion Kentucky Rifle
Kentucky half-stock percussion rifle made by Henry Ledford of Davidson County, North Carolina, circa 1850. Rifle measures 62" overall with a 41 caliber octagon 46" barrel stamped "H. Ledford" with hunting sights. It has an unmarked percussion lock with double set trigger control. Plain maple stock with North Carolina architecture, dark piano finish, and brass hardware. Comes with replacement ramrod. CALIBER: 41. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Barrel is turning to a smooth plum patina with pitting near breech. Lock has dark surface with pitting. Wood has traces of original dark finish with usage marks. Toe has old missing tip with butt plate bent to cover missing area. Usual burnout around lock. Brass has golden patina finish and is unpolished. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling. Action is sticky with slow function. Honest out of the attic rifle.
