High Condition L.C. Smith Ideal Grade 16 Gauge Side by Side Shotgun
Made by L.C. Smith Gun Company of Fulton, New York in 1950. Close to one of the last ones made and one of 72 Ideal 16 gauges made with a beavertail. Gun has English straight stock, which both beavertail and stock are not listed on Cody Research Letter but both are definitely factory and could be an effort to use up parts. Gun is fitted with blued London Steel barrels in 16 gauge with 2-3/4" chambers. High sighting plane rib, extractors, Full and Full chokes and L.C. Smith Fulton, NY single line barrel address. Case-hardened Featherweight typical floral engraved Ideal Grade frame with double triggers and two position non automatic safety. Blued long English grip tang, with trigger guard matching gun. Select walnut checkered English grip stock with factory hard rubber serrated butt plate. Factory style walnut checkered beavertail forearm with roller latch. LOP: 14-1/4". DAC: 1-1/2". DAH: 2-1/2". CONDITION
Overall 95% plus original finish with carry area showing finish color change and small wear marks. Bright vivid action case colors with screws in time. Trigger guard is possibly re-blued. Wood has 95% plus original varnish with L.C. Smith "chips" out of behind right lock. Checkering is sharp and appears original. Bright bores and crisp mechanics.
