High Condition Pre-War Smith & Wesson .38/44 Outdoorsman Double Action Revolver, #52054, .38 Spec. cal., 6.5" pinned barrel, blue finish, checkered diamond center walnut Magna grips, Patridge front and square-notched fully adjustable rear sight, with color case hardened hammer and trigger. Frame and yoke with matching assembly numbers (9561). Barrel, cylinder, extractor, and back of right grip are numbered to the gun. Shipped to Dunham Carrigan & Hayden Co., San Francisco, CA, July 14, 1937; with factory letter signed by S&W Historian Roy G. Jinks. Letter verifies barrel length, finish, and grips. In a correct two-piece blue picture box, bottom is numbered on a small piece of white tape in black grease pen and matches the revolver. Condition is excellent retaining approx. 99% factory blue, with crisp factory lettering, and showing only a few slight handling marks. There is a faint index line to the cylinder, face and chambers are clean. Strong case colors on the hammer and trigger, most remain. Grips appear near new with sharp, unmarred checkering. Action is crisp and cycles smoothly, cylinder locks up securely. Excellent mirror bright bore with well-defined rifling. Box shows moderate age and wear, heaviest around the edges.
