Garmezy Glass has donated a Hot Sculpted Glass Sculpture titled Glass Ivory by Grant Garmezy. This piece features a hot sculpted glass Beautiful one of a kind hot sculpted glass elephant tusk with pure 24k gold and silver leaf with a hand forged steel stand. Grant Garmezy's artistic journey has led him to embrace the sculptural essence of glass rather than its functional aspects. Employing specialized tools, precise timing, and the forces of gravity, Grant expertly shapes the molten glass, which remains in constant motion at temperatures exceeding two thousand degrees. His work, focused on animal imagery and natural forms, has evolved from capturing physical features to conveying expressions and movement that transform each piece into a narrative. In a glass studio, a symphony of artistry and craftsmanship unfolds as a team orchestrates the creation of one-of-a-kind pieces amidst the searing heat of 2,300 degrees. The fundamental equipment includes a furnace for melting glass, a reheating chamber for maintaining malleability, and an annealer for gradual cooling. Grant's technique, known as hot sculpting or "off-hand" sculpting, involves shaping the glass directly by hand, aided by an intensely hot torch and an assortment of manual tools. Every piece is an individual masterpiece, free from molds, and the collaborative efforts of a skilled team ensure its realization. The Glass Ivory sculpture embodies the fusion of skill, vision, and teamwork that defines the world of glass artistry.
