ACTION REPEATING SRC. Cal. 52 (56-56). S# 11530. Bbl. 22" w/ German silver blade front sight & folding leaf rear sight. Lever operated action w/ lock & hammer on right side having saddle ring & bar on left side. 7 Shot repeater, tubular mag. feeds through buttplate. Band fastened forearm & straight grip stock w/ steel carbine trapdoor buttplate & sling swivel. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: framed map & history showing the trail of significant engagements of the 3rd Michigan Cavalry & this carbine carried by William A Holdridge. Significant engagements included New Madrid, Island No. 10 & Grant's Mississippi Campaign as well as the battles of Luca & Granada. The Third Michigan saw action against General Shelby in Little Rock & present at the surrender of General Taylor's & Forrest. Includes a large packet from the Springfield Research Service that includes volunteer enlistment paper for William A Holdridge, who mustered into Company I of 3rd Michigan Cavalry Jan. 27th, 1864. This packet also includes Michigan Regimental histories & company rosters. Also includes many pages of Spencer Repeater & Civil War history printed off internet or various books. CONDITION: metal has acquired a heavy surface corrosion. Stock & Forearm have age darkened worn appearance w/ numerous dents, scratches & marks. Forearm has lg. chip along bbl. channel. Stock has cracks behind lockplate & saddle ring bar w/ additional cracks extending from both sides of buttplate. Functioning action. Mag. tube is complete. Dark bore w/ scattered pitting having strong rifling. (01-19205/DS). ANTIQUE. $1,400-1,800.
