IMPERIAL GERMAN REGIMENTAL STEIN FROM A HESSIAN
INFANTRY REGIMENT. Stein measures 11 1/2" in height. The body of the stein reads "4. Comp. Inft. Leib. Regt. Grossherzogin 3. Grossh. Hess. Nr. 117. Mainz 1909-1911" near the base. The top reads "Treu dienten wir mit frohem Sinn, dem Infantr. Leib Regmt. Grossherzogin". The central portion includes vivid polychromatic scenes of an infantry unit charging down a dirt road, visiting a village, firing in line, and a field cooking scene. The base has a lithophane that shows a soldier drinking a beer with his hand on his wife's shoulder. Elaborate pewter domed lid is topped with a Hessian eagle. CONDITION: light wear overall.
