TROPICAL UNIFORM, HAT & SEA BAG. This rare uniform is made of a khaki cotton material with hidden buttons on the front and correct Imperial tropical crown buttons on the pockets, tail & shoulder straps. The shoulder straps appear to be for an NCO and have gilded insignia denoting the 2nd Battalion of Marine Infantry. The collar tabs are white with light tan stripes and a bullion, black & red stripe at the bottom. There is a 3-medal ribbon bar above the left breast pocket that has a WWI 2nd Class Iron Cross, a Long Service Medal, and an Austrian Medal. The base of the left breast pocket has a WWI 1st Class Iron Cross. The uniform also includes a brown leather belt with no buckle. The hat has a knit khaki crown with khaki piping. The band is white with a central National cockade. The visor is black with a red-brown underside. There is a dark brown sweatband with a tan loose weave cotton liner and a brown crown liner. The crown liner is impressed with a silver Prussian eagle and bear a label that reads “Seesoldat Suersen 3.komp. X. Seebatl.” Finally, this group includes a large white cotton canvas sea bag measuring approx. 32” x 23”. The stenciled decoration on the sea bag includes “T” & “817 a”, along with a large crowned crossed anchor insignia flanked by the letters “K” & “W”. The top of the sea bag closes with a rope that passes through several sewn eyelets. An interior label reads “Seesoldat Suersen 3.Komp. X. Seebatl.” CONDITION: uniform shows very light wear. Shoulder boards and other insignia are crisp. Awards show light wear. Hat shows very light wear. Belt shows use, but no damage. Sea bag is a bit discolored and has a few abrasions.
