CAL. 410. S# 99076H. S#s match on the receiver, bolt, and bayonet lug. Bbl. 25 1/4". No visible import marks. These rifles were converted from normal 303 service rifles to use a 410 cartridge. This cartridge is based on the 303 brass case. Standard 410-shot shells will not chamber in this gun. These muskets were used by the guard and for similar duties. Rear sight has been blocked at its lowest elevation. Blade front sight with protective ears. Bayonet mouth is present. The receiver is marked on the right side of the butt socket with the crown "G.R.I. 1944". Marked on the left side of the butt socket is "410" / "RFI" / "1949". This would indicate that the rifle was converted at Rifle Factory Ishapore. The mags. were given a wooden filler flush with the trigger guard and have a sheet metal loading tray in front of the chamber. Hardwood stock set with "Indian Kiss" reinforcement. Replacement buttstock has several inletted repairs. Brass trap buttplate. CONDITION: well-worn stock set with an arsenal rework finish. Light staining and scattered handling marks. Metal retains 60% of its arsenal reworked blue finish with thinning and wear. Very good, shiny bore. (24-1353/RW). CURIO. $250-350.
