HAMMERLESS GUN WITH ORIGINAL STRAIGHT GRIP STOCK. Cal. 8 Ga., 3 1/2". S# 159801. This high original condition Parker gun matches all specifications as outlined in the serialization ledger w/ its titanic steel, 34" bbls. & straight grip stock. The Parker Story estimates a total of 37 - 8 Ga. hammerless guns in D grade being produced, only 10 w/ titanic steel bbls., & one of which was made w/ 34" bbls. All correct markings around flat, matted rib which is fitting w/ 2 white beads. Bottom of rear lump is stamped for frame size “6”. Large case hardened action w/ automatic safety & nickel plated double triggers has all correct markings on water table. Action is engraved in usual “D” style w/ about 70% coverage scroll engraving w/ in line & geometric borders which surrounds oval vignettes of single dogs on sides. A pointing pointer is on left & pointing setter is on right. “Parker Bros.” is on rib & behind each dog scene. Triggerplate has matching scroll surrounding a scene of 4 indeterminate waterfowl, most likely ducks, flying over a marsh. Triggerguard w/ scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Well streaked & lightly figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/8" over old, most likely original, Silver pad. Side panels terminate in spear drop points & well cut point pattern checkering w/ mullered borders is at grip. A vacant silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter forend w/ nicely filed steel tip has usual Parker Deely type release. MEASUREMENTS: BORE DIAMETER: left approx. .832, right approx. .830. BORE RESTRICTIONS: left approx. .042 Full, right approx. .030 Full. WALL THICKNESS: left .055, right .060. DAH: 1 7/8". DAC: 1 7/16"+. Cast: slightly off. WEIGHT: 12 lbs. 13 oz. CONDITION: very fine, original “as found”. Bbls. retaining over 90% original blue w/ some thinning from normal handling around forend at breech area. This area also exhibits a fair number of very light scratches & a few minor marks. Ivory beads are very nicely yellowed & undoubtedly original. Action retains approx. 70% original case hardening color which shows some flaking & browning around bottom & on triggerplate. Triggerguard appears to have been originally case hardened w/ very little color inside bow. Exterior shows flaking & browning w/ only traces of color. There are also traces of color on forend latch & tip. Stocks retain over 90% original finish w/ slight loss on sharp edges & w/ a fair scattering of marks & dings most noticeably 2 or 3 lunate dings on left & right side near original petrified & squished pad. Bores are bright & shiny. Action is tight. A truly exceptional Parker w/ great dimensions worthy of the finest collection. (21-3554/MGM). CURIO. $60,000-75,000.
