Two people get to volunteer with the Idaho Fish & Game to capture bighorn sheep for the capture-test-collar project in the North Beaverheads. There will be one or two days of capture between January and March of 2026. Dates will be coordinated with the IDFG thru the ID WSF*. This is your chance to handle live bighorn sheep & assist biologists while gathering data & health samples from the sheep & attaching GPS/radio telemetry collars. The data collected from this effort will dictate the management needs & future for this herd. Volunteers need to be self-sufficient for binos, clothing, food & water/coffee. Quality boots for hiking in steep terrain are suggested. It's best to have a daypack that allows you to 'grab & go" should your assignment change through the day. Be prepared to dress for the weather. Most of all have fun, be humbled by the country, awed by the sheep, meet people who share your passion for wildlife and relish the day.

Included: On field days, an Idaho WSF volunteer will accompany you & handle the transportation. Hotel stays the night before, during & the night after workdays is included.

Not included: Transportation to Idaho & meals

*Helicopters don't fly in bad weather. Capture dates can be fluid so it's important for the buyer to be aware of this & be flexible themselves. If the N. Beaverhead capture is not workable, then a capture in a different herd will be arranged.

Value- Priceless
