The red deer has thrived in Ireland since the species arrived on the island after the last ice age and so it can be said that they are as Irish as the islanders; but it should be added that the English also introduced these animals to Ireland in the 19th century and it is from this time that the presence of deer in large numbers in this country more traditionally known for hunting woodcock and snipe dates.
Our territory, that of the Rock House estate, is very large since it extends over 17,000 hectares in one piece (including 3,500 hectares of forest) and over 4,500 additional hectares located between 10 minutes and an hour's drive from the accommodation.
The forests we have selected are known to be located in one of the best locations in Ireland for red deer hunting at rut time (usually between 20th September and 20th October each year).
It should also be noted that in Ireland, hunters are given the opportunity to obtain very beautiful trophies which are absolutely in no way inferior to the trophies regularly harvested in Eastern Europe; and that hunting pressure on our territory is minimal because only four or five animals will be taken each year during the hunting period.
Accommodation in Ballycroy by the sea and in a tastefully renovated hunting lodge with all the necessary comforts.
There is an application deadline of April 1, 2025.
Additional species available: Irish Ibex, fox, woodcock, snipe…please see outfitter for prices.
