Cal. 12 Ga., 2 1/2". S# 182548. Bbls. 26" w/ shoe lump, are fitted w/ slightly swamped matted, concave rib. Makers name & "FLUID STEEL" "ESSEN" are on each bbl. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ Imperial German nitro proofs & "PRUSSIA". Casehardened boxlock action features automatic safety, crossbolt third fastener & dbl. triggers. Action is engraved w/ 30% coverage splashes of scroll w/in line & scroll borders. Makers name is on each side. Trigger plate is engraved w/ semi relief scene of duck flushing from marsh. This game scene is the hallmark of this grade. Trigger guard has S# on tang. Lightly fiddle figured European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over ribbed horn buttplate. Side panels are checkered & point pattern checkering is at grip. A vacant sm. German silver oval is on toeline. Matching splinter ejector forend has Deeley release. Bore diameters: left - .724, choke .036 (full), right - .725, choke .004 (IC). Wall thickness: left .013 (6" area on side, 7"-13" back from muzzle, remainder over .025). (There is no evidence of any dent removal, etc.; this is how this lightweight gun was made.) right - .024. DAC: 1 9/16". DAH: 2 1/2". Neutral cast. LOP: 14 1/4". WEIGHT: 6 lbs. 2 oz. CONDITION: very fine, w/ some light refinishing. Bbls. have nearly all their original blue w/ some light browning & frosting toward left muzzle. Original damascening on breech ends. Action retains 70-80% original casehardening color w/ some brown splotches around bottom. Thumb piece & trigger guard tang somewhat silvered. Stocks lightly refinished, checkering cleaned. Bores are excellent, bright & shiny. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong & in time. This grade retailed for $175.00 in 1933. (19-5437/MGM10). CURIO. $600-900.
