J.P. Sauer Prussian Special Order Charles Daly Diamond Quality Drilling 12 Gauge / 30-30 WIN
Manufactured for Charles Daly of New York, New York by J.P. Sauer and Son in Prussia in 1908. Features a special order with very rare carved checkering borders. Fitted with 28" Krupp steel barrels with 12 gauge side by side over .30-30 WIN caliber rifle. Barrels have matted rib with steel marking, rifle sights, extractors and "J.P. Sauer and Son" barrel stampings at breech. Case-hardened Diamond Quality sidelock action with scroll engraving, cocking indicators, side clips and Greener crossbolt. Action is marked on each side "Charles Daly" and has blued rifle side cocking lever, tang safety, hidden tang peep sight and pierced double triggers. Select walnut rare checkered round knob pistol grip stock with floral carved border, diamond ebony grip inlay, gold oval vanity plaque, right hand cheekpiece and leather cover recoil pad. Matching checkered splinter forearm with carved borders, ebony inlay and latch release. Comes in a green canvas trunk case with leather straps. CONDITION
Retains 95% original barrel finish with light edge wear. 95% fading case colors with carry wear. 90% original varnish with light handling marks and checkering starting to flatten. Good bores. Triggers need attention with back not functioning when in shotgun selection. According to a Daly expert, this is an easy fix. Case in excellent condition.
