The ideas behind all my paintings have wild origins.
Occasionally, it is necessary to spend time with captive
subjects to gain an intimate view of the details. This
leopard, from a private reserve in Namibia, walked
alongside us to a tree where we tied a chunk of meat
on a limb. He climbed right up and offered me a great
perspective on how a leopard feeds. I painted it to seem
as if you were looking up into a large acacia.
