Percussion Kentucky rifle built by John Shell of Dauphin County, PA . Rifle measures 59" overall with a 44" rifled octagon barrel in 45 caliber with rifle sights and stamped "J. Shell" behind rear sight. Unique hand forged percussion lock designed to protect wood from percussion cap burnout. Lock is controlled with double set trigger and has full brass sideplate. Full curly maple stock with "Roman Nose" architecture with cheekpiece and brass hardware. Comes with original threaded metal tip hardwood ramrod. CALIBER: 45. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall "attic" condition with metal turning a brown patina. Wood has traces of original finish with no visible repairs or restoration. Dark bore with good mechanics. A nice honest rifle.
