Kentucky rifle extensively used in many iconic golden age films by John Wayne and other film personalities. 1. Used in Allegany Uprising RKO Production 1939, starring John Wayne. Sot by Clare Trevor twice and used by her in scene when she smuggles John Wayne out of the fort in a wagon. Also seen in lobby card and other stills from this film. 2. "The Fighting Kentuckian" Republic Pictures 1949, starring John Wayne carried by him throughout the film. 3. "The Alamo" 1960 starring John Wayne. Wayne takes it from a soldier and firer at Mexican Army who are charging the Alamo. 4. "The Kentucky Rifle" (1956) starring Cotill Wills (Howco Production). Wills names the gun "Sweet Betsy from the Pike" and sings this song while he rams a load in the gun. 5. "The Buccaneer 1938" Paramount. It is on the floor of the Clayborn's house with other guns and in stills from the movie. 6. Minor glimpses of this gun in Iroquois Trail (1950) and other productions supplied by Stembridge Gun Arsenal. 7. Also a copy of still (publically autographed) from Paramount Pictures 1936 of this Kentucky rifle being held by Cecil B. Demille for publicity while filming "The Buccaneer". This Kentucky is signed Angstadt on the barrel and numbered S517, indicated ownership by Stembridge Gun Arsenal located on the Paramount Studios Lot. It is a smooth-bore (buck and ball) Gun measuring 58" in length, with a 43" barrel of approx. 62 smoothbore cal. This Kentucky shows a "Roman Nose" and a pierced patchbox. The gun dates about 1800-1810 and has seen many repairs and restorations by Stembridge. The forward 31-32" of the forend restored and ramrod themselves nose-cap-etc. Frizzen Spring oversized and replaced. Many small losses of wood around lock and metal. Cleaning and coloring around barrel. Lock needs repair as hammer won't stay cocked. A veteran golden age star firearm used by John Wayne and others in a host of major productions.
