KOKURA ARSENAL SERIES 22 TYPE 99 BOLT ACTION
RIFLE WITH G.I. INSCRIPTION. Cal. 7.5x58mm Arisaka. S# 48550. Bbl 26". Standard configuration Series 22 Type 99 manufactured at the Kokura arsenal. Receiver retains a full chrysanthemum above Kanji characters denoting the model designation over the chamber, w/ a Series 22 stamp followed by the serial number and Kokura arsenal insignia present on the left. Buttplate bears an inscription that reads "Jim Wallace TX 1208169/ Jap Rifle I traded/ (INDISCERNIBLE TEXT)/ Just off of Naha OK/ June 1945". Floorplate is also inscribed but is only minimally legible, with legible text reading "of AHH/ Okinawa". Blade front sight w/ aperture rear sight that retains its anti-aircraft wings. Rear barrel band retains its monopod. Rifle is fitted w/ an original rubberized canvas sling. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, bolt body, firing pin, and bayonet lug. Safety knob does not match and is number "536". Rear bayonet lug screw and the area surrounding it has been cut into an "X". UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: National Denki hooked quillon bayonet w/ scabbard. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some mild wear and spots of mild surface oxidation. Flecks of what appear to be white paint are present from the muzzle to the bayonet lug. Excellent chrome lined bore, exhibiting strong rifling throughout. Monopod has been crushed at one point. Stock exhibits scattered marks from handling, storage, and use, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Rubberized canvas sling bears scattered losses to its rubber exterior, w/ age related cracking overall. Bayonet shows some scattered oxidation and pitting, but is otherwise good.
