Signed and dated correctly this original metamorphic sculpture encompasses the facets of a sculptural totem. In Native American folklore the bear represents strength courage and leadership, and the elk woman represents dignity, nobility and integrity. This exquisite piece was carved, signed and dated 1989 by master sculptor Kathy Whitman Elk woman in superb detail. The sculpture was created using Colorado Alabaster and a sits on a Wood base.
Kathy Whitman-Elk Woman is an award-winning artist, in various media, based in Phoenix, Arizona. She combines artistic flair with technical skill to create art that is full of love and spiritual feeling; her work reflects both an artistic vision as well as the personality of her subjects.
Kathy Whitman-Elk Woman, comes from the Mandan-Hidatsa-Arikara Nation, on the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota along the Missouri River. She is also of Norwegian descent from her mother. It was during a Sun Dance Ceremony in 1977, in South Dakota that she received her Indian name, Elk Woman. The ceremony transformed her life and guided her on a stronger path. That experience helped her to reconnect with her traditional spiritual ways and guided her toward a more positive direction. Knowledgeable buyers from around the world, collect her work. She has received many prestigious awards and participated in numerous exhibitions. She is also a member of the Indigenous Sculptor Society.

Shipping arrangements and payments are the responsibility of the winning bidder. Shipping available nationwide and Canada. DSCNM assumes no responsibility or liability of shipped items. No merchandise items will be shipped until DSCNM receives confirmation of full payment. Merchandise will be shipped within thirty (30) days after auction closes and payment confirmation is verified.

All sales are final. No returns will be accepted. Winning bidder authorizes DSCNM to charge their credit card for the full amount of the winning bid plus buyers premium upon close of the auction. Payments will not be accepted from any third parties outside of a successful qualified bidder nor may the responsibility for any transaction be transferred to a third party. DSCNM accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover, Amex or Wire Transfer. Buyer Assumes all fees associated with a wire transfer.
Accepted Payment Methods:
The following provisions will apply to bidders participating in online bidding:
1. Winner’s credit card on file will charged the full amount for each successful bid. Winner will receive an immediate email acknowledgement at the conclusion of the bidding phase followed by a paid invoice once their payment has processed.
2. In the event the card is declined, DSC New Mexico will make one attempt to contact the winner to obtain a new form of payment. If the bidder cannot be reached, DSC New Mexico may, in its sole and absolute discretion, re-sell the affected item. Online bidders are encouraged to remain available via cell phone during the bidding process.
3. Online winners will be assessed a Buyer's Premium of 5% on the total winning bid amount for each online purchase. The Buyer’s Premium will be included in the total charged for each item.
4. Online bidders agree not to use any device, software or routine to interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of any transaction being conducted during the online auction.
5. DSC New Mexico reserves the right, for any reason, in its sole discretion, to terminate, change or suspend any aspect of the online auction.
6. If bidder dissatisfaction occurs with the online auction in any way, bidder’s only recourse is to immediately discontinue use of the online auction before items have been purchased.
7. DSC New Mexico reserves the right to terminate bidder registration and use of the online auction, and impose limits on certain features of the online auction or restrict bidder access to, or use of, part or the entire online auction without notice or penalty.
8. All items sold through DSC New Mexico are received from third party vendors. GOODS: All goods in the live auctions, silent auctions and raffles have been acquired or obtained from third parties. The high bidder acknowledges that the goods have not been inspected by DSC New Mexico, and is advised, in the case of firearms, knives, bullets or other weapons to secure a competent inspection and test of the goods before use. The goods in the live auctions are sold “as is” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of DSC New Mexico. DSC New Mexico makes no warranties of fitness or merchantability, and expressly disclaims the same. DSC New Mexico does not accept any responsibility or liability for any product, design or use. Any written warranties with respect to the goods delivered to the purchaser are those solely of the manufacturer or their agents, and shall be the sole liability and responsibility of the manufacturer. All firearms obtained for this event will be transferred in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. SERVICES: All services, hunts or otherwise, in the live auctions, silent auctions and raffles have been acquired for and are to be furnished by third parties and contain the same reservation set forth under “GOODS” above. The services in the live auctions are sold “as is” with all faults and defects, and without any express or implied warranty on the part of DSC New Mexico. DSC New Mexico makes no warranties of fitness or merchantability, and expressly disclaims the same. No services in the live auctions are to be or will be performed by DSC New Mexico. DSC New Mexico shall bear no responsibilities for the delivery or quality of any of the services or for any loss or damages arising from or related to or connected with the performance or non-performance of such services. The high bidder further acknowledges that in the event services are purchased, DSC New Mexico cannot be responsible for or liable for any political unrest or instability that may occur outside the confines of the United States, nor can DSC New Mexico be accountable for any injuries or damages that may arise there from. The high bidder further acknowledges that his/her purchase is final and non-refundable under any and all circumstances, and that should legal action be required to collect for the services or merchandise acquired by the high bidder at the auction, DSC New Mexico shall be entitled to all reasonable attorney’s fees, cost of court and interest as provided by law.
9. Bidder acknowledges that the online auction bidding phase is conducted electronically and relies on hardware and software that may malfunction without warning. DSC New Mexico will not be responsible for error or failures to execute bids placed via the internet, including, without limitation, errors or failures caused by (i) a loss of connection on DSC New Mexico`s or bidder`s end (ii) a breakdown or problems with the online bidding software and /or (iii) a breakdown or problems with a bidder`s internet connection, computer or system. DSC New Mexico does not accept liability for failure to execute any online bid or for errors or omissions in connection therewith.
10. DSC New Mexico may void any sale, temporarily suspend bidding and re-sell any goods that were affected by any malfunction.
11. Any hunt, fishing trip or membership purchased in this auction cannot be sold, raffled or bartered without the written consent of DSCNM.
