Kentucky Percussion Fullstock Rifle
Percussion Kentucky rifle from unknown region and unknown maker, circa 1840, and was found in Somerset, Pennsylvania. Rifle measures 50" overall with 34-3/4" unmarked octagon 38 caliber rifled barrel with rifle sights. Commercial percussion lock held with pierced brass sideplate with double set trigger control. Full curly maple stock with brass hardware and a nicely engraved bird oval coin silver cheek inlay. Rifle is missing ramrod. CALIBER: 38. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall good with metal turning plum with light oxidation scars. Brass is a golden patina color. Wood has an added coat of oil that has started to crack and ripple from exposure to heat. Old repairs around lock and toe. Good rifling with usual oxidation. Mechanics are stuck and need repair.
