This wool bunting flag measures approx. 72" x 48" and is a 45-star pattern having three rows of eight stars and three rows of seven stars. This type of flag was in use beginning in 1896 with the admission of Utah as the 45th state to 1907 with the admission of Oklahoma as the 46th state. This was the type and style of flag in use during the Spanish-American War, as well as during several of the "Banana Wars" fought during this period. The white cotton stars are cross-sewn, and there are 45 stars on each side of the canton. There is a 1 3/4" cotton hoist with brass grommets on each end. CONDITION: The flag remains substantially solid with tight seams, but there is scattered insect damage and minor tears throughout the flag. (02-23628/BF). $200-400.
