BOLT ACTION RIFLES. 1) Cal. 30-06. S# H14423. Bbl. 24". Model 1917 Sporter bolt action rifle produced by BSA from a surplus M1917 rifle. Left side of the bbl. is marked with British proofs and the cal. designation. Right side of receiver is marked with the S#, with the BSA logo and "MADE IN ENGLAND" marked over the top at the rear. Metal components exhibit a reapplied blue finish overall, save for the bolt body, which is polished in-the-white. Receiver (to the side of the floorplate) and cocking piece on bolt exhibit a single American Eagle head inspector proof. Original M1917 buttstock has been shortened, sanded, and revarnished, with checkering at the wrist. Ramped and hooded blade front sight with dovetailed BSA U-notch rear sight. Receiver has been drilled and tapped. Matching numbers are present on the receiver and underside of the bolt handle. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, with a few small spots of light to mild wear overall. Bright bore, exhibiting consistent mild surface level pitting in the grooves, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Stock shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sturdy and serviceable. (24-2557/MLW). MODERN. 2) Cal. 32-20. S# 74404. Bbl. 24 3/4". Sporter bolt action rifle mfg. by Savage Arms Corp. Top of receiver/bbl. is marked with Savage's mfg. and patent information, followed by "SAVAGE/ SPORTER". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for the bolt cocking piece and handle, which is polished in-the-white. Wood pistol grip buttstock features a schnabel tip forearm tip, as well as later added textured panels at the wrist and forearm. Aftermarket blade front sight with Marbles V-notch rear sight. MAGS: 1 5-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain traces of their factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning that shows through to a mottled brown patina, with scattered spots of light surface oxidation present overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with a large chip at the toe, some chipping around the forearm tip, as well as a 4 - 3/4" loss to the wood along the bbl. channel on the left side of the forearm.
