LOT OF ASSORTED BAYONETS.
Lot of assorted bayonets, including: 1) French Model 1866 Chassepot saber bayonet mfg. by St. Etienne. Spine is marked with St. Etienne's maker mark. Steel blade, with steel hooked quillon cross guard, and brass handle. Blade measures 22 1/2", with an overall length of 27 3/8". Complete with blued steel scabbard and brown leather frog. CONDITION: blade is good, with scattered spots of light to mild pitting and age related discoloration. Steel guard and brass handle exhibit a dark patina. Scabbard retains the majority of its original finish, exhibiting scattered areas of oxidation, as well as scattered spots of white paint. Frog remains malleable, exhibiting wear, was well as areas of age related cracking and crazing overall. 2) French Model 1874 Gras bayonet mfg. by St. Etienne in 1876. Spine is marked with St. Etienne's maker mark and "1876". Steel blade, with steel quillon guard. Handle is comprised of 2 wood scales, with a 1-piece brass pommel. Blade measures 20 1/2", with an overall length of 25 3/8". Complete with matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is very good, with some areas of dark oxidation. Guard shows age related discoloration and oxidation overall. Wood scales show some scattered handling marks, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Brass pommel exhibits a mottled brown patina. Scabbard retains the majority of its blue finish, exhibiting scattered areas of oxidation overall. 3) French Model 1886 Lebel bayonet. Steel blade and guard, with 1-piece smooth silver-alloy handle. Blade measures 20 1/2", with an overall length of 25 1/8". Complete with steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade is good, with scattered spots of dark surface oxidation and age related discoloration. Guard exhibits a gray patina, with scattered spots of dark oxidation. Handle shows some scattered handling marks. Scabbard retains a gray patina, with areas of dark oxidation and pitting present overall. 4) French Model 1886/93/16 Lebel bayonet. Steel blade and socket mount, with 1-piece smooth brass handle. Blade measures 20 3/8", with an overall length of 25 1/8". Complete with a matching blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade retains traces of its original blue finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina, with scattered spots of dark surface oxidation, and light to mild pitting overall. Socket mount retains a gray patina, with scattered spots of oxidation. Brass handle exhibits a pleasing mellow patina. Scabbard retains large amounts of its blue finish, with light to mild surface oxidation present overall. 5) British socket bayonet (appears to be a Pattern 1895 Martini Enfield socket bayonet). Upper face of bayonet is marked with British military proofs. Blade measures 21 3/4", with an overall length of 25 1/4". Complete with a brown leather scabbard, with brass fittings. CONDITION: blade exhibits light surface oxidation, with scattered areas of dark oxidation present overall. Socket area exhibits a dark gray patina, with heavy pitting overall. Scabbard remains malleable, exhibiting crazing overall and areas of tearing to the stitching. Brass fittings retain a dark brown patina. 6) British No. 4 MK II bayonet. Markings are mostly illegible. Blade is in-the-white, with the remainder exhibiting a blue finish overall. Complete with blued steel scabbard. CONDITION: blade exhibits oxidation, with some areas of pitting and age related discoloration. Scabbard exhibits areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray and brown patinas.
