Lefever Arms Nitro Special 16ga SN:330844
American made SxS shotgun chambered for 16 gauge shotshells circa 1936. It has 28" blued barrels, and receiver. Receiver was originally color case hardened. Receiver shows flying goose on both sides. Center rib is serrated and has had something removed from it and the holes have been sort of filled but not well. The original front bead has been removed and a green fiber optic has been glued on. It has double triggers, top lever, tang safety, extractor plate and all numbers match. The wood stock and forend have checkering at the wrist and on bottom of forend. It appears there may have been a tiny repair on the bottom left where it meets the receiver. No other visible cracks. Someone thought they were a stock maker and clearly they are not. There is a light color, cashew sized piece of wood inserted with a white nail just in front of the checkering on the forend. Glue shows, not well done. They made an oversized grip cap and nailed it in with white nails, not well done. The same can be said for the butt plate. I have not the words to describe what they did to the stock itself but I will try. On both sides there is a thin piece of wood nailed to the stock with some sort of glue or epoxy in the center of that. All this is surrounded by greenish yellow paint in some sort of supposed decoration. The metal finish looks good, no dents in barrels but there is scratch about 1" from the muzzle on top of the left barrel. Bores look good but used. Other than the work done, the wood is in good shape. Finally someone scratched some kind of design into the bottom of the trigger guard, deep. Nice gun, a shame what they did to the wood and the rib. LOP is 14" from the front trigger. Chokes measure full on the right side modified on the left. Condition is NRA Good *C&R Firearm*
