Lehigh Style Percussion Kentucky Rifle with Faux Striping
Percussion Kentucky rifle attributed to the Lehigh County area of Pennsylvania, circa 1850. Rifle measures 53-1/2" overall with a 38-1/2 " octagon 45 caliber smoothbore barrel. Barrel is unmarked with rifle sights. Rifle has a George Golcher marked percussion lock with single trigger control. Full plain maple stock with unique "Gouge" type decoration that appears to be done to simulate curly maple striping. Stock has brass hardware including two piece brass patchbox with release in butt. Comes with striped hardwood ramrod with gunsmith made worm attachment. CALIBER: 45. FFL STATUS: Antique.
CONDITION
Overall good with metal having a dark plum patina. Brass has golden aged appearance. Wood has been cleaned with no visible restoration. Dark bore with crisp mechanics,
