SN: 98633/61285. Australian British Commonwealth WW1 military bolt action rifle dated 1918. Arsenal refurbished. Stock marked "2MD", and chamber marked "2nd MD" (2MD - 2nd Military District, was in essence, the state of New South Wales). Features 25" barrel, nosecap with bayonet lug, protected sight ears, post front sight, adjustable rear tangent sight with protective ears, 10 round detachable magazine, stripper clip guide bridge, manual safety, sling swivels, two piece wood stock with straight grip, brass buttplate with trap door storage compartment. Volley sights removed, disc scrubbed. Right stock collar marked " A" in star over shield containing "Lithgow SHT. LE III* with "1919" under it. Matching serial numbers on receiver, bolt handle, and nose cap. Bore is excellent/bright, with strong rifling. Metal finish is very good , mostly there, bare metal where bolt rubs during operation, and on some sharp edges. Wood is very good, appears to have been lightly sanded, leaving the marking feint, but readable Wood to metal fit is very good and wood is solid condition. Small. feint JJ Co. (John Jovino) importer marks on right charging bridge. Right butt stock has the "A (Kangaroo) C in a shield, 2MD, HV , CMF, and III* cartouche. HV-High velocity, III*-magazine cut-off, and stock disc deleted from design. CMF-Citizen Military Forces
